๐ข Everwind Airship Guide โ Build, Upgrade & Fly Your Skyship
The Airship is the defining feature of Everwind โ your home base, transport, and progression gateway all in one. Without an Airship you cannot reach new altitude zones, which means no new materials, no stronger enemies, and no endgame content. This guide covers every Airship component, explains the upgrade system, and gives you an optimal build order for moving from Altitude 1 all the way to the dangerous upper skies.
๐ฌ Everwind Airship Tutorial โ Reference Guide
This reference guide video walks through every Airship component in detail with in-game demonstration. Recommended to watch before your first build.
๐ฉ All Everwind Airship Components
Every Airship is built from modular components. The five Required components must all be present for the ship to fly. Optional components improve performance, utility, and survivability. Components are crafted at the Carpenter Station or Smithing Station and placed block-by-block on your ship's hull.
Cockpit
Required| Materials | 10 Wood Planks + 4 Copper Ingots |
| Function | Control interface for flying. Must be placed first. Determines the ship's forward direction. Pilot enters Cockpit to fly โ all other players ride freely on the hull. |
| Notes | Place on a flat, central surface. The Cockpit defines the ship's heading axis. Replacing it requires rebuilding the flight grid. |
Engine
Required| Materials | 8 Copper Ingots + 6 Iron Ingots |
| Function | Provides horizontal thrust. More engines = higher max speed. Can be placed anywhere on the hull, but rear placement is most efficient. |
| Notes | At launch, one Engine is sufficient for Altitude 1โ2. Add a second Engine before attempting Altitude 3 for reliable speed against strong winds. |
Balloon
Required (ร2 minimum)| Materials | 12 Cloth each (Cloth = 4 Fiber at Carpenter Station) |
| Function | Provides lift. Altitude ceiling is determined by: (number of Balloons ร Airship Core level). Must be placed symmetrically or the ship tilts. |
| Notes | Start with 2 Balloons. Add 2 more when upgrading Core to level 2. Do not go above 6 Balloons without upgrading the Core โ excess Balloons add weight without extra lift above the cap. |
Energy Generator
Required| Materials | 6 Ancient Metal Scraps + 4 Copper Ingots |
| Function | Powers all electrical components: Airship Core, Weapon Turrets, Crafting Stations placed on the ship. Without it, the Airship Core cannot activate. |
| Notes | Ancient Metal Scraps are found ONLY in Altitude 1 ruins. Prioritize exploring every ruin before your first flight attempt. |
Airship Core
Required| Materials | 12 Copper Ingots + 4 Ancient Metal Scraps (base level) |
| Function | The heart of the airship. Determines maximum altitude, maximum ship mass, and Energy capacity. Must be connected to Energy Generator. Upgradeable. |
| Notes | Airship Core level = altitude zone unlock. Level 1 = Altitude 1. Level 2 = Altitude 2. Level 3 = Altitude 3. Upgrading requires increasingly rare materials. |
Hull Blocks
Optional (strongly recommended)| Materials | 2 Wood Planks each (Carpenter Station) |
| Function | Floor, wall and ceiling blocks for building your ship's structure. More blocks = more mass = slightly lower speed. Blueprint: Airship Hull Block โ found in wrecked airship debris. |
| Notes | Use Wood Hull for initial builds. Upgrade to Stone or Metal Hull at higher tiers for durability against aerial enemy attacks. |
Rudder
Optional (recommended)| Materials | 6 Wood Planks + 2 Copper Ingots |
| Function | Improves horizontal turning speed. Without a Rudder, ships take significantly longer to rotate โ critical when navigating between islands or dodging aerial enemies. |
| Notes | Place on the stern (rear) of the ship. Two Rudders improve turn speed further but have diminishing returns beyond three. |
Charging Station
Required for Magic| Materials | 8 Copper Ingots + 2 Ancient Metal Scraps |
| Function | Recharges Staff and Spell Book energy. Without a Charging Station on your ship, magic users must find land-based stations. Essential for Arcanist builds. |
| Notes | Place near your Crafting Station cluster. Charging takes ~30 seconds per full charge. |
Storage Chest
Optional (essential QoL)| Materials | 8 Wood Planks |
| Function | Stores loot, materials and supplies on the ship. Items inside Chests do NOT drop on player death. Add multiple chests to avoid inventory management headaches mid-flight. |
| Notes | Organize chests by category: Combat Supplies / Raw Materials / Food & Potions / Blueprints. |
โฌ๏ธ Airship Core Upgrade Path โ Altitude Unlock
The Airship Core determines how high you can fly. Each upgrade level unlocks a new altitude zone with new biomes, enemies and resources. Plan your material gathering accordingly โ Iron Ingots for Level 2 must come from Altitude 1 dungeon Blueprints and forges.
| Core Level | Altitude Unlocked | Max Height | Materials Needed | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Core Level 1 (Base) | Altitude 1 | ~400m | 12 Copper Ingots + 4 Ancient Metal Scraps | Starting configuration. Enough for all Altitude 1 islands. |
| Core Level 2 | Altitude 2 | ~900m | 8 Iron Ingots + 6 Ancient Metal Scraps + 4 Copper Ingots | Required to enter Jungle, Russet Forest, Rotten Island, Swamp. Iron Ingots come from Iron Ore smelted at a Forge (Blueprint required). |
| Core Level 3 | Altitude 3 | ~1,800m | 12 Iron Ingots + 8 Rare Metal Scraps + 6 Crystal Shards | Required for Desert / Savannah biome. Crystal Shards drop from Altitude 2 dungeon Bosses. Rare Metal Scraps found in Altitude 2 ruins. |

๐ก Everwind Airship Build Tips
These tips come from experienced Everwind players and community guides. Apply them on your first build to avoid common design mistakes that are costly to fix later.
Always place the Airship Core at the center of mass. Off-center Core placement causes the ship to wobble at high speeds.
Two Balloons provide enough lift for a small 5ร5 platform ship. Each additional 4 Hull Blocks of weight requires roughly one extra Balloon to maintain altitude.
Build walls around your Cockpit โ aerial enemies (unlocked at Altitude 2) can knock you out of the Cockpit mid-flight if you have no protection.
Add a Campfire or Heating Unit on the ship for high-altitude cold zones. Without warmth, Hypothermia sets in within 90 seconds above ~1,200m.
The Rudder stacks with speed upgrades from the Engine. Prioritize Engine upgrades first, then add Rudders for maneuverability.
Workbenches placed on the ship function identically to land-based ones. Set up a Smithing Station and Carpentry Station on your ship to craft mid-flight.

โ Everwind Airship FAQ
โ How do I fly higher in Everwind?
Upgrade your Airship Core to unlock higher altitude limits. Core Level 2 unlocks Altitude 2 (~900m). You need Iron Ingots and Ancient Metal Scraps to upgrade. See the upgrade table above.
โ Why is my Everwind airship tilting?
Asymmetric Balloon or weight placement causes tilting. Ensure Balloons are placed in mirrored pairs on both sides of the ship's centerline. Also ensure the Airship Core is placed at the center of mass.
โ How many Balloons do I need?
A minimum of 2 Balloons to fly. Add 2 more Balloons when upgrading to Core Level 2. As a rule of thumb, add 1 Balloon for every ~4 Hull Blocks of additional structure you build.
โ Where do I find Ancient Metal Scraps for the Energy Generator?
Ancient Metal Scraps are exclusively found in ruined structures on Altitude 1 islands โ collapsed towers, underground chambers and dungeon loot chests. Always loot every ruin before leaving an island.
โ Can I build workbenches on my airship?
Yes. Any workbench can be placed on the ship's deck and functions identically to land-based ones. This allows you to craft and repair while flying between islands.
โ What happens to my airship when I die?
Your airship stays exactly where it is when you die. It will not move or despawn. Return to it within your 10-minute loot recovery window to reclaim dropped items from your backpack.
